Electronic Publishing Technical Support

Provide ongoing technical support and modifications for the publishing of electronic fascicles for the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and others.

Website Publishing

Provide continuous website support, maintenance and electronic publication of the American Journal of Clinical Pathology (AJCP.COM) and the upcoming electronic publication of Laboratory Medicine (LabMedicine.com).

Echelon Learning Pilot Course

Working with the Florida Hospital College developed a pilot distance learning program to address the needs and concerns of healthier professionals regarding the risk of AIDS infection resulting from, as well as proper procedures for, needle sticks.

Comparative Pathology Database

Converted comparative pathology chapters to an electronic text and image database with search and viewing features for use by clinical pathologists.

Combat Casualty Care Course (C4)

In collaboration with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, the Tekamah Corporation has developed CD-ROM-based training materials in support of the Combat Casualty Care Course (C4).  C4 is the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute's highly respected course designed to prepare military medical personnel to function in the austere environment of war and peacetime disasters.

Combat Trauma Patient Simulation (CTPS)

In support of the U.S. Army's Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM), the Tekamah Corporation is continuing to work with Medical Education Technologies, Inc. (METI) on Phase IV of the Department of Defense sponsored program: Combat Trauma Patient Simulation (CTPS). This program is designed to provide an integrated military medical simulation system for training, testing and more realistically evaluating an individual's ability to assess the impact of battlefield casualties.  CTPS capabilities include: simulating, replicating, and assessing injuries by type and category; monitoring the movement of casualties on the battlefield; capturing the time of patient diagnosis and treatment; and comparing intervention and outcome results at various levels.  CTPS uses full scale, fully interactive Human Patient Simulators "mannequins" to train health care practitioners.

Tekamah builds training algorithms, enhances and improves software federates, and connects new simulation assets to the CTPS program.

Emergency Response to Terrorism- Basic Concepts (ERT-BC)

Working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Tekamah Corporation produced a CD-ROM version of the course, Emergency Response to Terrorism - Basic Concepts (ERT-BC).  This fully interactive course focuses on the detection, self-protection, and management issues associated with chemical, biological, nuclear, incendiary, and explosive incidents.

The ERT-BC course contains over 3 hours of instruction and can be used in both individual and classroom settings as well as being a useful primer for field exercises. It is based on the two-day resident course that includes:

  • Understanding and Recognizing Terrorism
  • Implementing Self Protective Measures
  • Scene Control
  • Tactical Considerations
  • Incident Command

Designed for Fire, Medical, HAZMAT, Law Enforcement and other Public Service personnel, ERT-BC is also an excellent `Terrorism Awareness' tool for employees with the following types of organizations:

  • Government and Corporate Headquarters
  • Public and Private Transportation Systems
  • Manufacturing Facilities
  • Telecommunication Companies
  • Mail and Freight Carriers

Integrated Damage Control Training Technology (IDCTT)

Sponsored by the Naval Sea Systems Command to help effectively train naval personnel in the implementation of damage control procedures, the Tekamah Corporation created Integrated Damage Control Training Technology (IDCTT).  IDCTT is a multi-screen interactive training simulation that replicates as closely as possible the series of events during actual shipboard emergencies. It allows naval personnel to anticipate problems, handle crises, rehearse solutions and see the consequence of their actions in real time.  IDCTT focuses the player's attention on the nature of major problems and requires the player to respond in a timely manner to significant decision points within a complex scenario.

Medical Readiness Learning Initiative (MEDREX)

Working with staff from the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Tekamah staff designed Computer based readiness training for mass casualty scenarios to be used by National Guard and Reserve CAREFORCE teams. The MEDREX software focuses on improving CAREFORCE team triage and patient stabilization skills while emphasizing the importance of resource allocation and evacuation management. MEDREX can project medical knowledge to both medical and non-medical CAREFORCE team members in dispersed areas at all echelons of care and can collect and display aggregate patient data for planning and analysis of medical training events.  The effectiveness of the MEDREX software and CAREFORCE teams was tested in a multi-day enactment by Air National Guard medical units from five states in an exercise referred to as Operation Arch Angel.

Nuclear Biological Chemical – Joint Executive Medical Skills (NBC-JEMS)

Sponsored by the U.S. Air Force, Tekamah Corporation is developing the Nuclear Biological Chemical - Joint Executive Medical Skills (NBC-JEMS) course. Designed for Military Health System Unit Commanders, and other senior medical leaders from active and reserve components, the course helps teach and sustain the skills required to effectively respond to a changing NBC threat environment. The web based course includes a basic set of presentations, a question bank covering the key training elements, a focused set of references, a problem-based scenario to further test the ability to plan for and respond to NBC incidents, and a method to track student performance.

Tactical Patrol Craft Trainer (TPCT)

In support of the Naval Special Warfare Command, the Tekamah Corporation has developed the Tactical Patrol Craft Trainer (TPCT), a multi-media trainer for the Commanding Officers of Patrol Craft (PC) class ships. The Trainer simulates challenging problems encountered while planning and executing a mission. The TPCT focuses the Commanding Officers' attention on a myriad of information requiring a timely response at multiple significant decision points associated with a complex scenario. Depending on the nature of the response, the scenario either shifts toward resolution or degradation.

Virtual Command Post Exercise (VCPX)

In collaboration with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, the Tekamah Corporation has developed an internet based network team trainer, Virtual Command Post Exercise (VCPX).  The trainer is designed to support the Commander, Naval Surface Reserve Force for all Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Force personnel. The team trainer engages up to 13 players in a series of training scenarios.

The scenarios contain an array of resources and an expressed initial demand for goods and services within established theater re-supply parameters.  After receiving requests for goods and services and reviewing available resources, team members for each facility will be required to determine priority, order and mode of fulfillment.  After each facility has acted, the simulation will advance scenario time and display the consequences of the teams' actions.  With each cycle, or turn, the conditions of logistics supply will change according to the group's performance.  After a preset number of cycles, the scenario ends and the team's performance is compared to an "expert" solution.

Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS)

In support of the Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command, the Tekamah Corporation has developed a computer based interactive coastal patrol craft trainer. Named for the acronym used by the Navy for their Visit Board Search and S eizure mission, VBSS is used to train personnel in the essential scenario procedures related to survivability and damage control training in tactical situations.  The Trainer includes a basic set of tutorial presentations, a question bank covering the key training elements, a focused set of references, a problem-based scenario to further test the planning and response, and a method to track student performance.
